2020 Mother’s Day Message

It is not lost on me that a Mother’s influence has powerful repercussions on society as a whole. My mother served as a cornerstone of faith in my life. She devoted herself to me, my sisters, and my father and her strength allowed us to grow into who we are today. Her influence also helped me choose the great woman I’m married to today, and her ongoing love and spirituality helps condition my children to be God-Fearing and Loving adults someday too.

A mother’s love truly has long-lasting ripple effects on our families and communities.

We have great examples in the Bible that prove a loving and strict mother can produce great children. Proverbs 31 centers around the advice King Lemuel’s mother gives him about who he should associate with and love (you are who you hang out with), not to do drugs or drink alcohol, and to stand up and care for those who are weak and cannot stand up for themselves. These are all words of advice we continue to hear from our Mothers thousands of years later.

Jesus’ love for his own mother was evident as he suffered incomprehensible pain on the cross. One of his last requests was for John to watch over her.

So, to Mothers, Wives, and women everywhere, I thank you for your influence over us. I cannot imagine the state we would all be in if it were not for you and the influential mark you leave on all of us. You guide, measure, and support us in our daily tasks and help keep us centered on what is important.

It is my prayer that every mother might have the honor of having “her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:…” declaring “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:28-29
