Transform

Grace. It’s such an unassuming word. Just one syllable long. Yet, this small word carries with it an entire world of possibility. This tiny word contains a whole action-set that changed the world in an instant, centuries ago, and continues to change the world now one person at a time.

We have nothing if we do not have Grace. We are a truly ragamuffins, poor-stricken and directionless, if we don’t have God’s grace to clothe us and His mercy to guide us.

In our ministry, I have seen men and women changed…

The Leap

God’s very nature is Faith. He put us on this Earth with the belief that we will return, freely and willingly, to Him one day. And knowing the very nature of who we are… I only can only assume that it must take a lot of faith on His part!

Even when we are unfaithful, he remains faithful. The covenants and promises He has made to us are steadfast and true regardless of our zig-zagging path toward Him.

Made in His image, we are also blessed with an aptitude for faith. Our most fundamental relationships on Earth can only blossom and thrive in its context. Faith is the necessary coinage between husbands and wives, children and parents, and any other relationship we may have, whether it’s professional or personal.

Above all faith is the grand human liberator. It eliminates doubt and paves the way for exceptional creativity and innovation. Great spiritual and entrepreneurial things happen in the nurturing environment of faith.

Checking It In?

How often does your spirituality come up in everyday conversations? Obviously, it doesn’t enter every single human transaction, but how often does it come up at all? Most often, God and spirituality is left at the door to our normal everyday lives. “Checked in” with the coat and the hat when we enter our normal workday. Our private, religious lives are not allowed to invade our daily, public lives. It would just feel too weird and uncomfortable otherwise, right?

What’s Your Message?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. There seems to be a legalism and politicization that is suffocating and masking the true Christian message. We see it on T.V. and in print and we hear it from the pulpits and from each other. A lot of us are stuck on stance and missing the main message entirely… the real reason for ANY season.

There is a temptation to speak of issues rather than Christ. We think that witnessing on the most recent “Hot Topic” is more relevant than witnessing to others about the Gospel. We can talk endlessly about abortion, marriage, and prayer in school, but we rarely have the direct conversation with others about the Gospel and the unequivocal truth of Christ and what it can ultimately mean to our eternal salvation.

Is There an Expiration Date on Forgiveness?

Forgiveness is probably one of the hardest feats you confront daily. Someone wrongs you and your first inclination is to nurse your hurt and condemn the hurter. That’s why the saying goes, “To err is human, to forgive divine.”

Yet, since it’s so hard for us to forgive, we often assume that God’s mercy has an expiration date on it also. We wonder at what sin is He is going to throw up his hands and say, “This is the last straw!”

However, without God’s forgiveness and mercy, we are stuck.

Too Comfortable?

When I catch myself feeling content and self-satisfied in business, I know something is wrong. I’m too comfortable and therefore not growing. The same can be said about my faith. When I’m lazy and unchallenged in my devotion to God, I know my journey has stagnated or stopped altogether.

Flipping Complaints

This week, I urge all of us to tweak our perception of the world. Instead of seeing the long line at the grocery store, look at the bounty in your cart and praise God you have it. Instead of cursing your boss for high expectations, be glad for your work and put your heart and soul into it. We have this one life, and happiness and gratitude are God’s gifts that make it truly worthwhile.

And know that tomorrow, I’ll be thankful when…

New Power for Work

Jesus is the only boss who will not drive you into the ground, because his work for you is finished. The work under the work has been satisfied by the Son, allowing you to do your work differently, better, and with more resolve. When you know for whom you work and the reason for why you work, suddenly, work becomes much more satisfying. Your audience of One is God, and therefore your work becomes very important. Not for money, not for glory, but all for God.

All for One

One of the best things I have ever done for my work was to involve God and His Gospel. I humbly admit that I have not perfected it, it’s a constant work in progress, and there are days when his word gets lost in the shuffle, but when he is truly the CEO, only then am I able to serve the work, my company, and my employees. Only then is my outcome remarkably different and fruitful. When we tweak the purpose of our work to serve the One, only then can we truly serve all. Hiring God to be our CEO has allowed our company to serve our clients, be transparent in our goals, and set a precedent of how best to succeed. It has made all the difference.

God’s Disclosure

Unlike the disclosures found at the bottom of many business sites, God’s disclosure is all-inclusive and all-encompassing. He doesn’t speak legalese, rather he speaks love. At the time, his contemporaries were like my lawyers… there was a law and He needed to abide by it. Yet, here was a man who claimed to not just know and understand God, but actually be God. He was throwing out everything people had believed God deemed important and announcing the old era was done and a new day was dawning.

Bold Faith in the Workplace

The Christian blogger, David Rupert, writes, “The problem for the lifestyle follower of Christ, is that it’s not that easy to dissect a transformed life. There’s really no such thing as a private faith. If my heart is changed, so too is my passion. If my spirit is flipped, so too is my thought process. A true Christian always oozes it – the transformation cannot stay silent.”

Reading this, my question to you is, “Are you harboring a private faith or are you vocal about your regard for Christ?”

It’s a hard question to answer when we live in a world that prefers the Christian to leave his or her beliefs on the church door stoop each and every Sunday. We’re all walking the tightrope between our faith and the outside world each and every day. We’re basically holding the balance beam and wobbling back and forth between what our human resource department advises and what God expects.

Written on ALL Hearts

Have you ever watched the movie Amadeus? It’s primarily about Mozart’s rise to fame as a remarkable composer of his time. It’s also about Antonio Salieri, a contemporary composer of Mozart, who wondered how God could promote and give talent to such a morally depraved man. Haven’t we all wondered this at one time or another? Why do some of the most unchristian people, produce some of the richest or most culturally advanced creations? Why can we see God in the most ungodly places and people?
