Gift of Grace
Inviting people to come to church often results in the same tired response, “If I walked into a church the roof would cave in!” If we think back to before we walked with the Lord we may remember saying something similar. Before they meet Jesus most people have the same misconception, “there is no way God could love me, I have done too many bad things in my life.” Romans expresses the truth of God’s love for us:
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
He doesn’t wait for us to clean up or become righteous, because we can’t do it on our own, we need a Savior, we need Jesus!
Even as Believers we can fall under the same condemnation of I wasn’t good enough today so God is probably mad at me, NOT TRUE! Trying to be “good” in my own efforts and strength is a fast track to failure, yeilding and surrendering to God and allowing His Holy Spirit to guide and direct me, strengthening me to live as we are called to live.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,-Romans 8:1
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. -Galatians 5:16-18
Be encouraged today to never give up, draw near to God and keep the faith.
let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. – Hebrews 10:22-23
FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE FREE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.
