Somebody Loves You
Recently I attended a wedding in which the mother of the bride toasted her new son-in-law stating, “You are the godly man that I have been praying for since my daughter was born.” What a beautiful expression of love was given to that young man from this mothers’ heart. Not only did the tears in her eyes prove that she meant every word but the tears in the grooms’ eyes confirmed that he received that love from his new mother-in-law.
To be loved is a necessity for each human heart, and while weddings are a wonderful celebration of love found the greatest outpouring of love happened over 2000 years ago on a cross as Jesus gave his life to pay our debt of sin which we were unable to pay. Jesus willingly and lovingly laid down His life to reconcile us to God.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~Hebrews 12:1-2
Jesus, looking past the horror of the cross to enjoy the joy of providing the way of salvation for us. This joy is expressed in the following scripture:
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. ~Luke 15:7
What a beautiful picture of the love of Christ that He endured the cross for you and me! Remember today that somebody loves you, the one who loves you is the Savior of the World!
VERY RARELY WILL ANYONE DIE FOR A RIGHTEOUS PERSON, THOUGH FOR A GOOD PERSON SOMEONE MIGHT POSSIBLY DARE TO DIE. BUT GOD DEMONSTRATES HIS OWN LOVE FOR US IN THIS: WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.
