For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Have you ever received a gift that you didn’t open? Perhaps the wrapping was just so perfect that you didn’t want to rip into it? I know that when I give a gift, I take pure joy in watching the recipient of the gift discover the contents under the pretty wrapping paper.
Perhaps that is where you find yourself at this moment, you have heard about the gift of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus, but you haven’t taken that next step. The value of the gift is only realized when you and I accept the gift. This precious gift came at far too great a cost to be ignored, or even for those of us who have already received the gift to fail in sharing the gift with others. The heart of God is found in the following verses:
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. ~John 3:16
Because of God’s great love for us He gave Jesus on the cross to satisfy the debt of sin, not Jesus sin – He was without sin, the sin that He paid for was yours and mine. Let that sink in for a moment as you read this next verse.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
Jesus for the joy set before Him endured the cross! That joy that was set before Him was eternity with every Believer that is set free from the grip of sin, who will spend eternity in fellowship with Him.
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. ~2 Peter 3:9
God’s desire as that no one will perish but that all would willingly repent and accept Jesus as their Savior. The Bible tells us that today is the day of Salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2), don’t wait another minute. If you believe these Scriptures to be true and you have not yet opened the gift of salvation, please pray the following prayer:
“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
If you prayed that prayer, please call us at (800)461-0216. If you have already prayed that prayer, share what God has done in your life with those around you today!
IF YOU DECLARE WITH YOUR MOUTH, “JESUS IS LORD,” AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED. FOR IT IS WITH YOUR HEART THAT YOU BELIEVE AND ARE JUSTIFIED, AND IT IS WITH YOUR MOUTH THAT YOU PROFESS YOUR FAITH AND ARE SAVED.”
