The Waiting Game…
I am surrounded by people who thoroughly enjoy all things fishing, me not so much. Why? It’s the waiting, I have never been good about waiting. I don’t mind visiting with someone but to wait an entire day hoping you catch a fish, which I have only accomplished twice in my life, is maddening!
One of God’s requirements is that we wait upon Him, funny that He knows each of us so well and understands our nature. Waiting is especially difficult in our “microwave” society, I can almost here the whines of Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, “But I want it NOW!” None of us really like to wait, just check out the demeanor of those around you while waiting in a long line. The Bible instructs us:
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.” The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
Most of us have experienced a time of waiting upon the Lord, these are never easy times, but they are a time in which our faith is strengthened. One time of waiting in my life was particularly difficult and as I prayed, I began to search my Bible and write out every Verse concerning waiting. Each of those verses encouraged me to wait for God’s timing, surrendering all outcomes to Him took the pressure from me and allowed my focus to remain on the Lord instead of the situation. As you wait on the Lord keep in mind that God is faithful, and He loves you!
HAVE YOU NOT KNOWN? HAVE YOU NOT HEARD? THE LORD IS THE EVERLASTING GOD, THE CREATOR OF THE ENDS OF THE EARTH. HE DOES NOT FAINT OR GROW WEARY; HIS UNDERSTANDING IS UNSEARCHABLE. HE GIVES POWER TO THE FAINT, AND TO HIM WHO HAS NO MIGHT HE INCREASES STRENGTH. EVEN YOUTHS SHALL FAINT AND BE WEARY, AND YOUNG MEN SHALL FALL EXHAUSTED; BUT THEY WHO WAIT FOR THE LORD SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH; THEY SHALL MOUNT UP WITH WINGS LIKE EAGLES; THEY SHALL RUN AND NOT BE WEARY; THEY SHALL WALK AND NOT FAINT.
