What is Your Spiritual Portfolio Worth?
I work in the financial world. My focus is on Private Money,
so many of my thoughts are often centered on crunching
numbers and deciphering whether or not a loan makes sense
to my business and my lenders. Because of this, I primarily
focus on mine and other people’s financial portfolios… but
today I ask you this, “What is your spiritual portfolio worth?”
Many of us, myself included, are always looking for new ways
to build up our financial portfolio so that we can retire sooner
with more money. Although many of us will work our hands
to the bone to make sure our financial portfolios are in order,
we often neglect our spiritual portfolios.
Our entire self-worth is derived from the things that we’ve
accomplished, the money we’ve amassed, and the things we’ve
been able to purchase instead of from God’s love. However,
money, material items, and accomplishments can all disappear
in the blink of an eye (think the Great Recession). Yet, God
and His word are enduring.
I believe this is why God allows bumps in our road. It’s to
remind us of what is essential in our lives. I experienced a
massive bump in 2008 when the bottom of the market fell out,
taking my net worth and real estate accomplishments with it.
It was a huge reality check for me, and a great reminder of how
insignificant worldly possessions are in the scheme of things.
God gave me a HUGE push in the right direction and although
that period of life was painful, I can honestly say that my life is
much better for it.
So, while we seek earthly joys, remember that the true joy in
this life is with God, and our spiritual portfolio’s worth is far
superior to the one that sits in our bank account.
THE LORD IS MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION— WHOM
SHALL I FEAR? THE LORD IS THE STRONGHOLD OF MY
LIFE— OF WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID?
