Are You Ready for Christmas?
When our twins were six years old my wife texted me
a picture that our son, Preston, drew of the
cross. Inside the cross, Preston wrote Christmas and under the cross, he wrote in large red and green letters: Jesus’ birthday is on Christmas!
I loved it! I love the fact that
he was so excited about the
Lord’s birthday. Of
course, later that day, his attention switched to
presents and the tree and all
the festivities, but
when he decided to draw a
picture, this is where his mind
Is it where your mind goes first when thinking of Christmas?
When asked, “Are you ready for Christmas?” How do you
gauge your readiness? Normally when asked this question, our
minds go to ticking off the checklist: Do I have our tree out
and decorated? Are all the decorations and lights hung? Is my
shopping completed? Did we send out our Christmas cards?
Do we have everything wrapped? This is a harried season for
everyone and it’s very easy to get ‘wrapped up’ in lists and
presents and parties. It’s easy to get bogged down by the have
to and want to, but we forget the NEED TO, which is to
remember the Reason for the Season.
I’m glad Jaclyn sent this to me all those years ago. It was a good reminder to me,
what this season is all about and hopefully it’s a good reminder
for you too.
I PRAISE YOU FOR REMEMBERING ME IN EVERYTHING AND
FOR HOLDING TO THE TRADITIONS JUST AS I PASSED THEM
ON TO YOU.
