Bold Faith: Rooted In God’s Power & Authority
The author of the book of Jude declares in verse 9 that, “even when the Archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’ ”
As astonishing as it may seem, the head of all the angels, the archangel Michael, does not act on his own authority. He acts only on the power and authority of God.
Jude goes on to tell us how to deal with those who reject the God of the Bible.
- Do not combat the enemy on your own authority.
- Acknowledge the Lord’s authority over all things.
- Recognize God as the power source.
- Walk confidently in God’s authority but never assume credit for it.
- Faith enables you to stretch, while humility enables you to stoop!
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And god is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
It is not our power that stands up to temptation, it is God that provides a way out. God gave us a brain to avoid many temptations in the first place. Too often we flirt with sin and try to see how close we can come to temptation. This is the wrong way to approach it. We should be running as far away from sin and temptation as we can, but when we do find ourselves facing it, God promises to provide a way out…His way, not ours.
Stay rooted in God’s power and authority!
