Crucified with Christ
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20
A powerful reminder that when we become believers in Christ, we no longer live for ourselves, but Christ lives in us. Our old self, with its sinful desires, has been crucified with Christ, and we are now new creations in Him. This means that our lives are no longer about our own ambitions or desires, but about living for God and His purposes.
When we live by faith in the Son of God, we are able to experience the fullness of life that He has for us. We are able to walk in freedom from the bondage of sin, and we are able to live with the hope and assurance that comes from knowing Christ.
As believers, it is important that we understand the significance of what it means to be crucified with Christ. We must die to our old selves, with its sinful desires, and allow Christ to live in us. This means that we must surrender our lives to Him and seek to follow Him in all that we do. We must live by faith in Him and allow Him to guide us on the path that He has for us.
- Romans 6:6-7 – “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
- Colossians 1:27 – “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Prayer: Dear God, we thank you for the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, so that we may be able to live in freedom and hope. We pray that you will help us to die to our old selves and to live for you. We ask that you will fill us with your Holy Spirit and guide us on the path that you have for us. Help us to live by faith in your Son and to seek to follow Him in all that we do. May our lives be a reflection of your love and grace to those around us. We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
