Crushed? Take Heart!
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
God is always near to us, especially in our times of pain and suffering. When we feel like our hearts are breaking or our spirits are crushed, we can take comfort in the fact that God is with us.
The phrase “brokenhearted” refers to those who are experiencing deep emotional pain or grief. It could be the loss of a loved one, a betrayal, a disappointment, or any other kind of heartache. The phrase “crushed in spirit” refers to those who are feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges and struggles. It could be financial stress, relationship problems, health issues, or any other kind of burden.
In either case, the psalmist assures us that God is close to us in our pain. He sees our tears and feels our pain, and He is present with us in the midst of it all. He is not distant or aloof, but intimately involved in our lives, working for our good and offering us comfort and strength.
But the verse doesn’t just speak of God’s nearness to the brokenhearted; it also speaks of His saving power. When we feel like our hearts are breaking or our spirits are crushed, we can turn to God for salvation and deliverance. He has the power to heal our hearts, to lift us up, and to give us hope.
So let us take comfort in the promise of Psalm 34:18, knowing that God is close to us in our pain and that He has the power to save us. Let us turn to Him in our times of need, trusting in His love and care for us. And let us also be agents of His comfort and healing in the lives of those around us, pointing them to the God who is close to the brokenhearted and who saves those who are crushed in spirit.
EVEN THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE DARKEST VALLEY, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL, FOR YOU ARE WITH ME; YOUR ROD AND YOUR STAFF, THEY COMFORT ME.
