Don’t Fear 365 Days a Year
Many people equate being Christian with being boring. I mean how exciting can it be to strive to be good all the time, right? BORING!!!
However, I would argue that being Christian is one of the boldest actions a person can take, especially in this day and age. It’s not popular to talk about Jesus and God, except in a blasphemous or jokey way. It’s not fashionable to shun the modern world for the spiritual. Instead, it’s bold and even adventurous to choose God. Yet, despite this, most choose the world. They fear that setting God’s example is uncool and would rather toe the line everyone else toes instead.
I Peter 3:14 commands us, “Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.” The command, “Do not fear,” shows up (in one form or other) a total of 365 times in the Bible. That’s one command for every day of the year. If we woke up each day to that call to action… do not fear, can you imagine what we could accomplish as a people?
Author and preacher, Max Lucado wrote it this way in his book, Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear:
“Fear never wrote a symphony or poem. Fear never negotiated a peace treaty, or cured a disease. Fear never pulled a family out of poverty or a country out of bigotry. Fear never saved a marriage or a business…Fear herds us into a prison and slams the doors.”
When I started my Sunday morning service at my real estate and private money events, and when I started talking about God in my webinars and seminars, I was met with a mixture of responses. Some people cheered my transparency while others began to abstain from my events or, worse, they associated my views with a more sinister or greedy motivation. Because of this, I could have easily let my fear of losing a paying customer or being judged cause me to downplay my religious beliefs.
Instead, I decided to be bold in my faith. Did I lose paying customers? Sure I did. Did I lose my faith? Absolutely not! And I pray every day that I help someone else find theirs in the process.
BUT EVEN IF YOU SHOULD SUFFER FOR WHAT IS RIGHT, YOU ARE BLESSED. “DO NOT FEAR THEIR THREATS; DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED.
