Grace – Found in God Alone
Romans chapter 5 introduces us to GRACE – “We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:2
It is difficult to understand here without some context. Verse 1 indicates this GRACE is from Jesus Christ and results in “…peace with God” along with justification.
- It is through Jesus that we gain access to grace and all that grace holds.
- It is through Jesus and His grace that we gain peace with God.
- It is through Jesus and His grace that we acquire justification before God.
The book of 2 Timothy goes on to say:
“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” – 2 Timothy 1:9-10
This grace is not because of anything we have done as indicated in verse 9. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus for His own purpose. It has been around since “…before the beginning of time…” but has only been revealed or realized with the coming of Jesus Christ.
Grace has to do with the destruction of death, the coming of life, and the coming of immortality. We often tie the grace of God to the death of Christ but forget to relate its power to the resurrection, the ascension, and the ongoing intercessory ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ living in us.
There is no other way to righteousness and a renewed relationship with God but through God’s grace – through Jesus Christ!
Have you accepted this grace in your life?
