Gratitude = Opportunity
Today I’m going to talk about gratitude. Too often we focus on our “have nots” rather than our “haves” and we forget to name our daily blessings. When we’re focused on our ‘lack’ and not our abundance, we look for people, religions, cultures, and countries to blame. You see it on the news every day — too many people absorbed in their “have nots.”
That’s where it gets messy. That’s where we forget the bold promises and blessings of Jesus and focus instead on ourselves and ultimately our ‘lack.’
On the other hand, the truly blessed people are those who acknowledge their blessings. Zig Ziglar, a Christian motivational author, and speaker once said, “When you focus on problems, you get more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you have more opportunities.” God has given you abundance, and if you don’t see it, your eyes need to be refocused and realigned with His.
I encourage you to ask God for the strength to drown out the jaded voices around you and truly focus on the blessings. Be thankful for your home, your things, your comforts, big and small. Stop looking at others who you think have more than you and instead look at your spiritual assets. God has given you plenty, and once you acknowledge it, you’ll begin to see that there is more than you ever imagined at your fingertips.
GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD, FOR HE IS GOOD; HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER.
