In Christ: Hope
The Bible teaches us that in Christ we have a Living Hope. 1 Timothy 4:10 says, “…we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people…”
Hope, as it turns out, is a critical component to life. Research studies in both animals and humans have clearly shown this correlation. Decades of research indicate that hope is a robust predictor of mental health. Not only does it make life more enjoyable, experts say but hope also provides resilience against things like post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and suicidal inclinations. Hope offers chemical benefits too, in the form of endorphins and lowered stress levels. Without hope, we give up the will to live. Conversely, with a strong hope we can endure hardship far beyond what would be expected.
Hope is not a passive exercise in wishing. Hope is active. Hope is motivating and moves us to positive action. Hope makes us more productive. Ultimately, hope is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ!
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, …”
1Peter 1:3
While the world does not offer much hope today, as Christians we have this Living Hope in Christ Jesus. We know God is in control of all the circumstances of our lives. He can sustain us through anything.
Thank God today for this Living Hope and ask Him to provide you an opportunity to share it with someone else today who needs a little hope in their life!
