In Christ: We Gain Understanding

In 2 Peter 1:3 the Bible tells us that God “Called Us,” – His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. It is in fact, God who opens our eyes and our hearts to know Him or even seek Him.

The Bible tells us that we gain understanding to know God by being in Christ. It is only through Christ that we can truly know God in all of his glory, power, and might.

“ We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” – 1 John 5:20

The understanding spoken of in this verse by John is a knowledge that only comes through experience. Through our relationship of being, “In Christ” we have the opportunity to experience the presence of God in our lives. This experience is “given” to us by Christ – the Son of God. We cannot attain it on our own. If God did not reveal Himself to us, we would never find Him. We know Him and can know Him because He has revealed Himself to us.

Thank God that we can gain an understanding of Him in Christ!
