Is Your God Big or Small?
Is Your God Big or Small? That may seem like a peculiar question, but how you fret and worry over your challenges determines how small or big God is in your life.
Let me put it to you this way. If your worry list is a mile long and you continue to add to it on an hourly basis, your God is small and becomes smaller with each addition. You don’t have faith that He is guiding your footsteps and keeping you safe. God tells us time and time again that we should not worry, and that He will take care of us. In Matthew 6:25 He tells us, “do not worry,” and again in Philippians 4:6, we are told to “be anxious for nothing.”
Of course, the overly used and simplified phrase, “Don’t worry. Be Happy” is much easier said than done. Life is filled with financial fears, social worries, family drama, physical ailments, and professional pitfalls. It’s in our nature to internalize and wring our hands over these challenges. Handing them over to God often feels like we’re handing over control, and if you’re like me, you don’t like to feel as if you have no control in life.
I often hand my challenges to God at night only to take them back in the morning. Does that sound familiar? Yet, if we truly hand it over to God and say, “It’s all yours, do with it what you will,” you’ll be surprised by the end-result. The constant anxiousness will fade, you’ll breathe easier, and the answers to your problems will be clearer. Your path will become plain and undeniable because the cloud-cover of worry will have dissipated. But you must trust God and trust that you’ll like what He has planned for your life.
In the past, I’ve struggled with this—especially when things were financially tight. I kept thinking, “How in the world could God want this for me?” It wasn’t until I simply gave it over to God that I saw the direction he wanted me to go—let’s just say it wasn’t where I was headed. Once I let God right my route, things became much better both personally and professionally.
So, stop the constant worry and allow God to be BIG in your life. I guarantee it will change the way you think and act.
THEREFORE IF YOU HAVE BEEN RAISED UP WITH CHRIST, KEEP SEEKING THE THINGS ABOVE, WHERE CHRIST IS, SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD. SET YOUR MIND ON THE THINGS ABOVE, NOT ON THE THINGS THAT ARE ON EARTH. FOR YOU HAVE DIED AND YOUR LIFE IS HIDDEN WITH CHRIST IN GOD. WHEN CHRIST, WHO IS OUR LIFE, IS REVEALED, THEN YOU ALSO WILL BE REVEALED WITH HIM IN GLORY.
