Living a Transformed Life Part 5: Community
Romans 12 deals with the way God wants us to relate to one another. As believers, it’s our job to be deeply involved in each other’s spiritual growth and lives. Yet, most of us have been told to be self-sufficient, we forget to rely on each other and God. Although many of us read the Bible and pray at dinner, this self-sufficiency is so ingrained in us that we rely on ourselves and not our community. Our dependence on God is hobbled by our dependence on ourselves, and because of this, our dependence on the Christian community and each other is limited too.
Yet, verses 13-20 of Romans gives each of us a directive and a model on how we need to remain close to one another. The language of the passage points to our common needs: sharing, hospitality, blessing, weeping, peace, hunger, thirst. By meeting these basic spiritual needs for one another, we spiritually transform ourselves.
That is why I created He’s The Solution. I wanted to fellowship with my Christian friends and colleagues all over the world and share in a community of faith. I knew that these weekly meetings were essential for my growth and transformation, and I hoped that it would help others too.
In his book, “Imagine Your Life Without Fear,” Max Lucado said it this way:
“Christ distributes courage through community; he dissipates doubts through fellowship. He never deposits all knowledge in one person but distributes pieces of the jigsaw puzzle to many. When you interlock your understanding with mine, and we share our discoveries, when we mix, mingle, confess, and pray, Christ speaks.”
This is my vision for He’s The Solution. It’s a community where I can share my knowledge of God with you in the hopes that you will share your knowledge of God with me, and we can enlighten each other. It is my deep desire to mix, mingle, confess, and pray together and subsequently hear God’s voice and calling in our daily lives.
Each week, I look forward to having you on the Sunday call. It’s my opportunity to share the Good News of joy and peace, to fellowship in God with you, and to ground myself in the only thing that really matters in this world.
FOR WHERE TWO OR THREE GATHER IN MY NAME, THERE AM I WITH THEM.
