Opening a New Chapter: Joy
Did you know there is no other word I love more than “Joy”…
okay, okay maybe “Fried Chicken,” but since that’s technically
two words, and eating it is synonymous with joy, I think we’re
safe to say, “Joy” is really in the top three.
The Bible is chock-full of references of “JOY,” and here are just
a few examples:
Psalm 16:11: You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is
fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Philippians 4:4: Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control. Against such there is no law.
Psalm 5:11: But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let
them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love
Your name Be joyful in You.
1 Peter 4:13: But rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s
sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with
John 15:11: These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain
in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 16:22-24: Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again
and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. And
in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now
you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your
joy may be full.
In a world where complete JOY is scarce, I want to enter the
REASON for the season with what Jesus is all about. PEACE.
JOY. LOVE. This world could use a bit, or a lot, more of each.
So instead of just wrapping store-bought gifts this year, begin
spreading Joy. All it takes is a smile, a “thank you,” a touch, or
an embrace. We are vessels of God’s love, and it is up to us to
spread the message of Joy this season and always.
AND THESE THINGS WE WRITE TO YOU THAT YOUR JOY
MAY BE FULL.
