Pray Away the Worry
Philippians 4:6 says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Do you believe this verse? God says you can pray about everything. Nothing is too great for God’s power. Nothing is too insignificant for His care. Anything worth worrying about is worth praying about. I believe if we prayed as much as we worried, we’d have a lot less to worry about!
The fact of the matter is, “Fear not!” (which is the same as “worry not”) is the most repeated command in the Bible. I’ve heard it said that there are 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible — meaning there is one “Fear not” for every day of the year! It is that important.
When you give your worries to God, you take the bold step of relinquishing control. Think about that sentence for a minute. It seems counterintuitive, right? How can you be bold if you’re not in control? But let me ask you this, does worry give you control? Does anxiety instill courage? Trusting God, having faith, and relinquishing control is the antidote to fear and worry.
It allows you to let go of the past, live in the present, and step boldly into the future when you’re not hobbled by worry and anxiety.
I encourage you to take God up on his call to action and “Fear Not.” If you still need help, say this prayer whenever worry creeps into your daily life:
Gracious, Heavenly Father, You already know the worries on my heart. I pray that You will give me the peace that passes all understanding in the trials that are ahead. I am scared about what the future holds in my career, family and finances. I give these worries to You Father and ask that You will carry me through this difficult time. Your agape love surpasses all love that I could possibly give. I thank You and praise You for Your patience with me. I love you Father! Amen.
