Daily Dose Of Boldness

Your Daily Dose of Boldness – Which is Working On You?

Which is Working On You?

Back in the early days of American Christianity, Satan was a huge part of church teachings. You know, the Jonathan Edwards “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” sort of fire and brimstone, pulpit pounding kind of sermons. Lately, though, we’ve gravitated away from that. We mostly focus on the New Testament softer and gentler side of God. We use inclusive, loving language to pull in new members. This is not a bad thing. But often, this means we forget the strong influence that Satan still has in our lives. And I’m not talking about the “Satan made me do it” excuse. Instead, I’m talking about the more insidious, yet inconspicuous influences he has in our lives.

Here are all the ways Satan influences you:

  • Rushes You
  • Frightens You
  • Pushes You
  • Confuses You
  • Condemns You
  • Stresses You
  • Discourages You
  • Worries You

Look at how much influence Satan has over your daily life and decisions. How many of us worry and fret over our jobs? How many of us are discouraged over a relationship or stressed about money, health, family, and church? How many of us are confused and frightened over what we see in the news? How many of us feel condemned? And more personally, how many of us feel pushed and rushed daily? All these universal emotions and motivations do not come from God, do not inspire joy, and certainly contain no peace. Yet, most (all) of us feel one or more of these emotions daily. We are being influenced and motivated by Satan.

On the flip side, God:

  • Stills You
  • Reassures You
  • Leads You
  • Enlightens You
  • Forgives You
  • Calms You
  • Encourages You
  • Comforts You

When you read both lists, you can feel the difference. One list immediately causes a sense of peace, while the other incites feelings of anxiety. That is the difference between the influence of God and Satan in your life.

So, when you feel pushed, rushed, confused, discouraged, and worried, you need to turn your attention to God in prayer. You can’t battle this from within (you have no internal defenses), you must call on an ally, an external force to help you. God will still, reassure, lead, calm, and encourage you.
