Who is Seeking Who?
Often, we think we are doing all the seeking, right? We are the seekers; we find Jesus, we commit to Jesus, we live for Jesus etc, etc, etc.
But in all this seeking, we need to remember it is US who is being specifically sought by God.
Although God persistently seeks us, not every person understands or identifies with the “Caller” or His calling. You can see this in the way we desperately search to identify and classify what scientifically, biologically, and psychologically makes us all tick. We want to know which row, category, or percentage we fall into. Yet, in defining this and lumping ourselves into profiles that rarely, if ever, express our sheer God-Given independence, uniqueness, and significance, we lose sight of God’s calling and our ability to react to it.
In modern society, we believe we’re either constrained to be who we are by society’s dictation, chosen to be who we are by sheer will-power, or established to be who we are by our upbringing. In each case, we allow little room for God’s role or God’s calling.
I believe we are not constrained but called; we are not the ones dictating the calling, but responding to it, and we are not pre-determined to it, but free to choose. When you look at it that way, it’s pretty awesome!
SEEK THE KINGDOM OF GOD ABOVE ALL ELSE, AND LIVE RIGTEOUSLY, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED.
