There are many people in the United States who are claiming that the end times are upon us.
I’ve had people ask me my thoughts on the subject. The truth is, this isn’t the first time in recent history where the “signs of the times” have pointed to the end. During both World Wars, we had the same fears or hopes (depending on the person) that the end of the world was upon us.
The fact is, we really don’t know. Our perception of time is a simplistic version of God’s time. We cannot say, without a shadow of a doubt, the exact date and time of the Second Coming of Christ. Many have tried, and all have failed.
Moreover, God doesn’t want us divining and fretting over His second coming. During His time on Earth, when circumstances and distractions took the attention of His faithful followers from Christ’s cause, Jesus admonished them and said, “Let not your heart be troubled.”
Instead of focusing intently on the upcoming election, the state of the country, or the horrors of the world, God has let us know, over and over again, that what we should be focused on is the Kingdom of Heaven. Nothing else matters. We too often forget this singularly and all-important fact. When the foundations of our country are being shaken, it is our job to speak boldly about the security of Heaven and what that it means for all believers. When times are tight, and prosperity is a distant memory, we must speak and promote that there is a better and more glorious place for us prepared by God Himself.
I, for one, am looking forward to it.
