“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
This verse reminds us that with God’s strength and power, we are capable of accomplishing great things. But what does this mean in practical terms?
For starters, it means that we can approach our goals with confidence and boldness, knowing that we have the support and guidance of God. We don’t have to be limited by our own abilities or circumstances, because we have access to the limitless power of God.
This verse also calls us to take action and step out in faith, even when we don’t feel capable or confident on our own. Whether it’s starting a new ministry, changing careers, or creating financial freedom for your family, we can trust that with God’s help, we can achieve what we set out to do.
But it’s important to remember that this verse doesn’t mean that we can do anything we want, regardless of whether it aligns with God’s will. Rather, it means that as we seek to do God’s will and live according to His purpose, He will give us the strength and ability to accomplish what we need to do.
It is the same concept when we are facing trials in our lives. Some of us who are independent and strong willed, think we can muscle through the heartache and stress and rely on our own wisdom to make the right decisions. But in reality, we make things worse when we don’t relinquish control and allow God, who is more powerful and smarter than us, to work through us to accomplish His will! In the 2 Corinthians verses below, we learn that God works best in our weakness because we “Let Go and Let God.”
BUT HE SAID TO ME, “MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS.” THEREFORE I WILL BOAST ALL THE MORE GLADLY OF MY WEAKNESSES, SO THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME. FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST, THEN, I AM CONTENT WITH WEAKNESSES, INSULTS, HARDSHIPS, PERSECUTIONS, AND CALAMITIES. FOR WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
So, the practical application of this verse is to approach our goals and trials with a spirit of faith and trust in God. We should seek to align our decisions with His will, and trust that He will provide the strength and guidance we need to accomplish the goal or overcome the trial. And as we do so, we can find peace and confidence in the knowledge that we are not alone, but have the support and power of God behind us.
