Over the next few posts, we’ll talk about the necessary qualities of leadership found in chapters 4-7 of Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders. As you read through his long laundry list of necessary assets, it’s a bit daunting and extremely humbling.
I wrote each characteristic down on a piece of paper and realized how much I still had to do to hone each of these leadership qualities in myself. Let’s just say I have my work cut out for me!
In Chapter Four, Sanders compares Natural with Spiritual Leadership qualities to illustrate that what we commonly think are strong skills can actually be hindrances when we start relying on ourselves instead of God. As you look at it, I guarantee a lump will form in your throat when you realize where you’re often putting your faith and efforts. Hint: Many times it’s in yourself instead of God.
